Why clear and consistent messaging wins: Lessons from the recent election
After watching the recent election campaign, one quote that really stood out to me was:
“Our message was confusing... Labor had a tight and very disciplined campaign,”
– Jitendra Prasad, an LNP supporter, speaking to the BBC.
This perfectly sums up what many people noticed during the election. The Coalition’s message often seemed confusing and inconsistent, while Labor kept their communication simple and disciplined.
I even raised this with our local member for Wentworth. Her slogan, “Your values, your voice,” really stuck with me. It’s so simple, yet so effective and easy to remember, and most importantly, it connected to voters.
This serves as a powerful reminder, whether in politics or marketing, clear and consistent messaging is crucial. When your message is simple, repeated regularly and authentic, it sticks in people's minds. It also builds trust and makes it easier for your audience to understand what you stand for.
The recent election showed us that disciplined campaigns with clear messaging win attention and votes. Whether you’re running for office or promoting a brand, the lesson is the same: clarity and consistency are key to success.
